Pontiac Silverdome sold by Pontiac Emergency Manager for less than 1% of build cost.

Fred Leed, Pontiac's Emergency Manager that sold the Silverdome, then returns with the new owner to propose a casino business on the site. So he's taken public property, sold it for pennies, then gone into business to profit on that sale. There seems to be no checks on the power that an Emergency Manager wields while either in office or the time following such a position.
Watch out on that petition circulating to expand the number of casino jobs in Michigan. Who is being taken care of in the deal? Remember Matty Moroun sponsored "The Public Should Decide" would require the public to  a petition to limit the number of bridges, thus creating a monopoly for the Detroit Bridge Company. Not every petition you encounter is beneficial... be informed.

Assembly in Grand Circus Park

Our General Assembly Tuesday will be in Grand Circus Park and begin at 6:00pm. If weather turns bad we’ll head to 1515 Broadway, Detroit – which is two blocks away. We’ll be meeting on the “Maybury” side of the park (east) to avoid spray from the fountain.

Our facilitation team would like to remind and inform those attending of the hand signals that help us keep order in the meetings. They are depicted at right.

If you have a portable lawn chair we recommend bringing it with you. A blanket or exercise mat to sit on is also a great idea.

Eastern Market Saturday

Today we hold the General Assembly at Eastern Market starting at noon. Please make sure you have outreach materials in hand when attending. There are many things coming up in the weeks ahead for people to find activism through. Check the Events page on the website, if you have a smart phone integrate the calendar to your phone so you can show those you meet what is coming up.
