Occupy Detroit members and Detroit government, civic and spiritual leaders held a Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally and march from Central United Methodist Church to Cobo Hall and back. Afterward, many boarded buses to join the March For Democracy in protest of Michigan Public Act 4, better known as the Emergency Financial Manager law. Gov. Rick Snyder’s administration has been using it in community after community to deprive democracy to the people who live there. Under PA4, if you live under the control of an Emergency Financial Manager:

• Assets of the city or county may be sold.
• Contracts may be ruled null and void.
• Elected officials will no longer guide the functions voters elected them to perform.
