This has been the week of new. Our apartment got painted, I helped open a new Apple Store, and I’ve learned some new things and met some new people.
The apartment getting painted is no small thing. The walls were pretty scuffed, and I can’t even imagine what went on in this place to make the walls look like they did. Drug violence, domestic abuse, rave, murder? There were literally scuffs everywhere. Now the place really feels like home. We’re moved in. We’re here. AND we finally have a kitchen table. It feels like settling in for the winter hibernation.
The other big thing is opening a new Apple Store. Because the company is so crazy about secrecy, I can’t talk about it too much. What I can say is that I really enjoy my job, and coming into a new store everyday is still very exciting. I spent four days this past week working in the new store before it opened to customers. Seeing the attention to detail in everything, and the demand for excellence in the appearance of everything, made me appreciate the store and the company on a new level. The demand for perfection is refreshing. I work in a business that has sparked a cultural phenomenon, and not many people can say that. This thought has made me enjoy going into work more.
